Frequently Asked Questions

We welcome swimmers from age 3+ in our learn-to-swim programme. Lessons are tailored to the swimmer’s age, confidence and ability level.

Absolutely. Many swimmers join us with little or no confidence in the water. Our teachers are experienced in helping nervous swimmers build confidence at their own pace in a supportive and encouraging environment.

We pride ourselves on keeping class sizes small to ensure every swimmer receives plenty of individual attention, feedback and support. Our group lessons have a maximum of four swimmers per teacher, while private lessons are available on a one-to-one basis.

Our focus is on high-quality teaching, small class sizes and individual progress. Every swimmer develops at a different pace, and our lessons are designed to provide the support and attention needed for long-term success in the water.

Every swimmer progresses at a different pace depending on factors such as age, confidence, attendance and practice outside lessons.

As a guide, the average swimmer takes approximately:

  • Pre-School: 18 months
  • Swim Skills 1a: 18 months
  • Swim Skills 1b: 12 months
  • Swim Skills 2: 6–9 months
  • Swim Skills 3: 6–9 months
  • Swim Skills 4: 4–6 months

Our instructors focus on fully embedding skills before progression, ensuring swimmers build strong foundations and confidence in the water.

Many people assume a child is competent once they can swim a short distance. At Young Talent Swim School, we believe a swimmer should confidently complete Swim Skills Level 3 before being considered a competent swimmer.

This includes swimming 25m front crawl and back crawl with consistent technique, treading water, sculling, demonstrating basic butterfly skills and showing confidence in deep water.

All lessons are delivered by qualified swimming teachers who are passionate about helping swimmers develop confidence, technique and water safety skills.

We do not offer refunds for missed lessons. However, wherever possible, we will offer a catch-up lesson at an alternative class, subject to availability.
