Useful Information & FAQs

Welcome to our parent and swimmer resource hub. Here you will find helpful advice on supporting your child’s swimming journey, water safety tips, and answers to common questions about our lessons and pool policies.

Swimming Advice & Water Safety

Floating is the single most critical survival skill in the water. Learning to relax and float on the back allows a swimmer to rest, regulate their breathing, and stay safe if they ever tire or get into difficulty. We embed floating techniques into all stages of our YTSS pathway.

Build water confidence: Take regular family swim trips to practice gentle splashes, blowing bubbles, and floating without pressure.

Keep bath time fun: Encourage water over the face and hair washing in a relaxed setting to prevent fear of water in the nose and eyes.

Stay positive: Celebrate small wins and progress, letting children learn at their own natural pace.

Always check pool depths and entry points before allowing children in. Ensure active adult supervision at all times, even when lifeguards are present. Encourage children to practice their back float if they feel tired in open water or deep pools.

Lessons & Booking FAQs

We offer structured swimming programs for children of all abilities, starting from early age water confidence through to advanced stroke technique and endurance.

Swimmers need a well-fitting swimsuit or trunks, a towel, and goggles. Hair should be tied back or secured in a swim cap. Please bring warm clothing for after the session.

Our small group classes ensure every child receives individual attention and feedback. For swimmers who need tailored support or accelerated progress, 1-to-1 lessons are available at selected venues, including Kilgraston.

Our teachers continuously assess pupils against the YTSS Learning Pathway. You will receive regular updates on badge achievements and progression to the next stage on our customer portal.
